Accountant - Income Tax 

A Flathead Valley leader in the accounting industry, founded in 1999, is hiring an Accountant. The firm provides a wide variety of high-quality professional services but prides themselves on integrity and providing personalized attention to each client.

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and entities, ensuring compliance and accuracy while advising on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities
• Research complex tax issues, provide expert advice, and assist with IRS audits and other tax-related matters
• Stay current on tax laws and regulations, applying knowledge to client work and mentoring junior staff to ensure high-quality service
• Manage multiple client accounts and deadlines, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in all interactions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA license preferred or experience in income tax preparation and planning
• Minimum of one year of experience in tax preparation, with a strong emphasis on complex returns (corporate, individual, trust, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of federal and state tax codes, including experience with tax preparation software - Lacerte
• Proven ability to conduct thorough research and resolve complex tax issues
• Prior experience in a public accounting firm or tax-focused role is a plus
• Ability to pass a background screening
