The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion , or the Center as known on campus, represents the importance of equity and inclusive excellence in every aspect of the Carnegie Mellon student experience. We are a team-oriented unit, with dual reporting lines to the Division of Student Affairs and the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion & Inaugural Chief Diversity Officer. The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion enhances the student experience by cultivating cultural engagement, fostering a sense of belonging, and challenging systems of privilege and oppression. We work to support the success of socially marginalized student populations by developing inclusive communities, facilitating active mentorship, and building personal empowerment. These outcomes are accomplished by collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Our goal is to develop creative and engaging programmatic experiences, on and off campus that increase intercultural competency and promote inclusivity.
We are seeking a bold, creative, and energetic leader with a passion for working in a student-centered environment. Preferred candidates for the Associate Director of Student Programs and Engagement position should have experience with building inclusive communities and progressive leadership. In this new role, you will oversee day to day administrative operations, facilitate annual departmental programs, and promote student engagement within the Center. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead a team of three+ full-time staff.

Essential Functions (% of effort)
45% - Cultivate and implement the student engagement and programmatic elements of the Center, including supervision/professional development of 3+ professional staff members and Graduate Ambassadors/Interns, strategic program planning, implementation of identity and leadership development curricula and budget stewardship.
20% - Design and implement qualitative and quantitative assessment programs under the leadership of the Executive Director of the Center to measure and report on impact of Center programs, campus climate and student belongingness.
10% - Engage with Center response and student support during critical incident moments on campus or in broader community.
10% - Build and successfully maintain collaborative campus and community partnerships for implementation of student development, leadership, and identity-based programming initiatives.
10% - Support the general functions of the Center via routine staff meetings, participation in campus events and signature Center programs as well as other duties as assigned including serving as a primary advisor for designated student organizations or program with special attention to the Center's identity and cultural affinity based belongingness initiatives
5% - Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule and Environment
This is a full-time, in-person position. Evening or weekend work may be required to support university and organizational deadlines, programs, and events.
