Job Title: Director of Accounting and Finance

Director of Accounting and finance Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Accounting and Finance to oversee the financial operations of our organization, which includes managing financial reporting, tax oversight, and general ledger (GL) accounting. This is a standard Controller role with additional responsibilities, including active involvement in investment decisions, financial modeling, and oversight of 27-30 entities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong financial acumen, leadership skills, and a keen analytical mindset to drive financial efficiency and strategic growth. Our organization operates as a family office with oil and gas and real estate assets , providing a unique opportunity for the Controller to manage a diverse portfolio.

Director of Accounting and Finance Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting , ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Lead GL accounting oversight , ensuring accurate and timely financial close processes across multiple entities.
• Manage tax oversight , including compliance, planning, and liaising with external tax advisors.
• Provide financial insights and support investment decisions , working closely with executive leadership.
• Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to accounting policies across all entities.
• Oversee cash management, treasury functions, and working capital strategies.
• Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions.
• Support M&A activities, due diligence processes, and integration of newly acquired entities.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial management.

Director of Accounting & Finance Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience overseeing multiple entities (27-30 preferred) in a complex corporate structure.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and investment analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP - Microsoft Dynamics

Director of Accounting and Finance Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Oil and Gas/Real Estate - Family Office environment
• Experience in accounting (full close), investment analysis, or M&A activities.
• Advanced degree (MBA, Master's in Accounting/Finance) is a plus.
