The program is designed to provide students with exposure to jobs that fall within their scope of learning while gaining insight into specific business operations of the Port of Stockton to encourage pursuit of careers in various fields. This internship position is within the Information Technology Department. Examples of Duties Perform data collection using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Environmental System Research Institute (ESRI) field apps. Assist with projects that include stop signs, fire hydrants, and various IT assets. Create Storymaps, Dashboards, and Field Apps using ESRI software. Perform Geographical Information System (GIS) data work, such as update meta data, create and edit GIS data (i.e., fences, leases, etc.). Create and update maps for presentations, reports, and departmental needs using ArcGIS Pro. Assist with general IT tasks as needed. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an introduction to GIS course or equivalent GIS experience. Data Collection experience using GPS and ESRI field apps is highly desired. Related Majors: GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science (GIS focus) or related field. Must effectively communicate orally and in writing. Eager to learn and possesses strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently; a self-starter. Enthusiastic attitude regarding IT and the Port's internship program. Ability to focus and accomplish given tasks with minimal supervision.
