Job Title: Machine Operator

Location: Kentwood, MI

Shift: 2nd/3rd Shift

Position Overview

As a Machine Operator you will play a vital role in the operation and maintenance of specialized machinery used in surface treatment processes. This position involves working with grit blast, thermal spray machines, and automated inspection systems to process components for various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and electronics.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Operate and monitor grit blast and thermal spray machines to ensure efficient processing of parts.
• Setup & Changeovers: Perform machine setups and fixturing changeovers to accommodate different production runs.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machine issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Inspection: Conduct basic inspections to verify the quality and specifications of processed parts.
• Training: Assist in training new operators on equipment and processes.
• Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machinery.
• Material Handling: Support material handling tasks, including loading and unloading trucks as needed.
• Leadership Support: Provide assistance to the Shift Supervisor and step in as needed during their absence.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of leadership or machine operating experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints and using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
• Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with CNC and manufacturing procedures; CNC experience is preferred.
• Certifications: Ability to obtain HiLo (forklift) certification.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy for data entry and machine monitoring.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
• Manual dexterity to handle tools and components.
